So, in the course of my overall fitness journey, I have discovered that my body is not a temple...just a well-lived in home. Comfortable and cozy, I only just realized how much I love this home. Yeah, it has its flaws (don't we all...), but through the hard work I have put in over the past 3 years, I have come to realize just how amazingly resilient and strong my home is...
I definitely need to get better about maintaining my home, so I do not have to rebuild it "brick by painstaking brick," but this is where these challenges come in. They force me to re-think what I know, and to adjust what I am doing in order to make myself better, stronger. This body is the only one I have until I'm evicted, so I have to make sure to make the best of it and keep it well maintained and even do some "upgrades" as I go. I have been derailed too much this past year by circumstances AND by my own stupid excuses...There, I said it. My OWN excuses...my OWN choices.
Now that spring is "here"...or so they tell us, it will be so much easier to get out and be active. Longer days = more time to get stuff done, and be O-U-T! I feel like this winter was just a hunker down and stay safe time. Could I have gotten out there to run and could I have done more? ABSOLUTELY...but I CHOSE not to, and THAT, my friends must change... Time works both for and against us, sometimes it feels more like the against part, but there is always time to try and get in a run or lift some weights...or both! It's all about choosing, and choosing WISELY.
I chose wisely when I chose Rugged. I found the best contractor ever to help me to maintain and fix up this home. We've even made improvements here and there...Now I need to get better about making wise decisions in the "little things" like nutrition and pushing myself to work out harder and work out MORE. These choices and decisions will make better improvements, to help keep me in my fabulously comfortable home, and to keep my home functioning and working the way I need it to every day. I need to listen to the wisdom of my contractor when I start to make bad choices or to slack off. It's time to start de-winterizing my home and bring out the best for race season and beyond. So, no temple here...just a home that is SO worth living in, and keeping in tip-top shape until the day I'm evicted. Hopefully that day is a LOOOOOONG way off. :-)
Here's to making good choices and keeping on top of things. A new week brings new challenges, and I can choose to rise to the occasion or...
be a Slackiderio. I think I choose to rise. No carbs...here I COME!
