This question is actually for my brother because I don't do and would never do full sit ups. He on the other hand is training for a Corrections Officer job and one of the requirements is 35 sit ups in a minute. Sit ups are just hard for him. He's somewhat over weight so I'm sure that hinders his ability. Anyone have any tips on what he can do to improve? Just do more? Right now he can do about 15 in 30 seconds. He has until the end of April to early May to get his numbers up for the test.

I would recommend working some abdominal planks into his abs routine. This will help to get the muscles better coordinated. But when it comes down to it he needs to practice the movement that they will be testing him on, which means lots of situps. He can try doing them with some resistance, like a cable machine or with a plate on his chest for strength.
Is it possible for him to loose some of the weight by then?

He's lost like 40 pounds. I believe he's continuing to lose weight still so he should be able to lose maybe another 10. I'm not sure. Unless his body stops cooperating that is.
I suggested to him that he do planks. His jujitsu teacher is also a personal trainer and he's been having him do these trunk twists or something and also turkish get ups.
I will pass along your advice. Thanks.
