I figured I should put this in product reviews since it's a product.
Anyway this has been one of the most crucial pieces of equipment in my fitness journey. Almost as important as all the gym equipment I have downstairs. Unlike other mp3 players that just play music on them this one has that and so much more. With the use of the iTunes App store there are TONS of different applications which you can use to assist you in your goals. Two that I have are my Couch 2 5K running app and just recently an interval timer.
The running app lets you play your music in the back round and gives you sound and verbal cues for when to run and walk and it progressively builds you up to running 3 miles. It's easier than bringing along a watch and trying to set timers for it. That will just slow you down.
And as I plan to get into doing more circuit and interval training I purchased a timer app. You can buy separate timers in the store for like 15-20 dollars or more if you buy a watch but I paid 3 dollars for it and it's way more versatile than I imagine a store bought one would be. It allows you to be extremely specific in your work outs. You can input the exercises by name and list them, you can add notes to each exercise, and you can name them and save them for later use instead of having to reset it for each work out.
Those are just the two I have but there are soooo many on there it's almost hard to pick through them. There are lots of calorie counting apps and things as well for anyone who needs help with that. And some even have video instructions on how to do exercises correctly. It's just overall helped out. Running would have been so much harder for me without the music and the app and it helped improve my weight training because before I used to turn on the tv out of boredom and that would get distracting.
They can be pretty expensive but they do so much more than just a regular music player that I haven't regretted paying for it at all.
